Off the Hook: R2D2 Hat; On the Needles: Pom Pom Baby Booties

I finally finished the baby hat for my friend's son. I told a friend of mine that I would make baby booties for her son, who is due in November. I wanted to use some of the leftover yarn in my stash, so I looked up patterns for Bernat Softee Baby yarn and found the pattern I'm using for booties with pom poms on them. This pattern can be found on the Bernat website, and from what I can see, turns out adorably. I have completed one and need to seam up the edges and add the pom pom, but I will send pictures of the progress as I get them done.

Off the Hook: Friend's Daughter's Blanket; On the Hook: R2D2 Hat

So I made a star shaped blanket for my friend's daughter; all I need to do is weave in the ends and it will be ready to give to her. I made this with softee baby yarn by Bernat. I do not own the rights to the pattern, but you can find the pattern, SuperStar blanket, on either bernat's website, or Michael's website.

I am starting on an R2D2 hat for my friend's son. The pattern is not original, but for anyone interested in the pattern, the name of the blogger from whom I got this pattern is called  Nesting Sticks. Definitely check her out; your mind will be blown.

Sweater Awaits Assembly

Here is the front of the sweater. You can see the blue-green color better in this shot, but believe me when I say that the photos do not do the shade justice.
Here is one of the sleeves.
Sleeve number two. I didn't realize how dark it was when I took the picture.
Here is the hood. I was so freaked out that I'd gotten it wrong when I was knitting it, but I'm pretty sure I have it right.
Here are the ears. These were by far the easiest of the parts to knit simply because even the most amateurish of knitters could make them with few to no issues.
All I need to do is set aside some time to sew this up. In the meantime, I'm working on a crocheted blanket; the biggest I've ever worked on. It's called the Superstar Baby Blanket and can easily be found on the Bernat website in with the other patterns using Softee Baby. The pattern has a picture of the blanket made with pink marl and white, but I decided to use light blue and lemon. Once I'm further into the blanket, I will upload pictures. I've already sent a picture of the blanket to the mother, and she was so happy with it; I can't wait for her to see it in person.

Hoodie For Friend's New Little One On the Needles

This is the back panel I just finished for my friend's baby due this February. The picture was taken in very yellowish light, so you can't see the color, but it's a pale blue-green. She doesn't know if she's having a boy or girl yet, so I'm trying to go with as gender neutral color choices as possible. Needless to say, that means avoiding pink and purple as much as I can.
This hoodie is made with Loops and Threads Country Loom Baby; I am following a free pattern that I found at my local Michaels, so you can probably find it on the Loops and Threads website. It's called a bear hoodie, and promises to be darling. I was planning on doing it in blue, but then I saw this blue-green and thought it's feminine enough for a girl, but neutral enough for a boy.
I know the back panel looks big, but I decided to make the 12 months size for a couple reasons. One, we live in the southwest, where it stops getting cold in March and April and doesn't start to get cold again until November, so if I made it in the six month size it wouldn't fit when it started to get cold again. For another, anyone who has ever had a baby knows that little ones grow really fast, so I don't want to make a six months size and have the baby be like my husband wearing newborn clothing for two weeks.
This is my first time making something that gets sewn together in panels, so it will hopefully turn out successfully and means I will have increased my repertoire to more than just scarves, hats and blankets.

Hot Off the Needles: David's Scarf

As the title suggests, David's scarf is approaching completion; I say this because all that remains to be done is to weave in the ends. Meanwhile, James's blanket is coming along beautifully; I am almost done with row six of ten, and photos will be forthcoming.

David's Scarf Continues to Progress; James's Blanket Continues to Grow

David's scarf now fits across my couch and then a little bit more. I am so excited about it because rarely has something knitted up this quickly. Here is the picture of its progress.
James's scarf is starting on it's sixth of twelve rows in alternating hunter green and royal blue patchwork squares. Once the row is sewn onto the blanket, I will post photos.

Now On the Needles: James's Blanket; David's Scarf

As part of getting a small knitting business off the ground, I have offered a scarf to my friend David in order to gain some clientele. So far, it is taller than I am, which isn't exactly saying much. Here is a picture of my work; you can also see James's blanket on the corner of the couch it and the scarf are laying on.
